Heimia Link et Otto of the Lythraceae (Loosestrife) Family
Aka Heimia salicifolia
Location: Southern United States, Mexico, Central America, South America, and the West Indies
The Heimia plant is somewhat annoying, growing in high quantities where least desired and being scattered all along the streams and throughout the highlands (anywhere somewhat moist) in the Southern America regions (bottom of United States downward). Although there are yellow flowers accompanying these almost-weed like shrubs, they are not enough to make up for the obnoxious replication of the species throughout the land.
The Heimia plant leaves are harvested, crushed, prepared and fermented into a powerfully intoxicating drink. This practice is more common in Mexico and Brazil than other places.
