Peyotillo – Intoxicating Peyote Substitute

Pelecyphora Of the Cactus Family

Pelecyphora aselliformis

Location: Mexico

The Pelecyphora aselliformis is an attractive cactus that grows roughly between 1 and 3 inches in height. Being a small cactus, it can be hard to spot and often perceived incorrectly as a rock. In fact, the outer shell of the cactus almost blends in with the ground, making it even more stone-looking. The bell-shaped flower at the top being red or violet in color are the only distinguishing components of the cactus which make it easier to spot.

Although this cactus is technically a “false peyote,” it still provides strong hallucinating effects that are very similar to Peyote. In fact, most people cannot even tell the difference. The effects of consuming Peyotillo are extremely similar to Peyote due to the presence of Mescaline (and a few other alkaloids) in Peyotillo.
