The Helichrysum Straw Flower is a very pretty plant, and with a pleasant fragrance too! The plant is tall for its class and grows branched, reaching up to a foot or more in height. The flowers themselves are a gorgeous parchment or cream-like color (sometimes a little golden) and are sometimes referred to as “Everlasting.”
There are a few species of Helichrysum which are smoked by witch doctors in Zululand specifically to induce trances and have visions. Many ancient tribes have smoked this flower for ‘spirit walk’ and other ritual purposes.
