Sceletium tortuosum is a small shrub with plump, smooth leaves that have almost a cactus-like feel and look. Generally the plant will not grow past 1 foot in height, and it can become about that wide in diameter as well.

Kanna is a powerful African herb that has been chewed for centuries by the Natives of South Africa, the Hottentots. The root provides alkaloids mesembraine and mesembrenine. These alkaloids provide a sedative, like-cocaine effect.
