There are two species of small bush which can grow up to 9 feet in height and thrive in low grasslands. The stems and roots are rough and strong and the leaves, dark green, elongated with a point and serrated. There are small yellow or white flowers which grow at the ends of each branch.

Sida acuta is used for its stimulating effects or for its ability to mimic the effects of marijuana. Smoked in small doses, it is stimulating; and smoked in larger doses, it provides effects similar to marijuana. The roots contain Ephedrine. Coumarine is also present.
