Mucuna pruiens (L.) DC.

Location: All Regions of the World that are Warm and Tropical

Mucuna pruriens is a short, stout-like herb with three leave patterns. The leaflets themselves are oval in shape, oblong and contain many hairs. There are dark blur or purple colored flowers that can grow a little more than an inch in length. The pods contain the seeds and are plentifully present throughout the foliage.

Cowhage produces rich amounts of psychoactive constituents. Most notably, it contains DMT and 5-MeO-DMT. Cowhage has been used throughout time by ancient Indian cultures as well as in modern day for its awesome hallucinogenic powers. The seeds are what contain the DMT. Cowhage is also used as a Ayahuasca analog still today. Additionally, when powdered, the seeds can be used as an aphrodisiac.
