The Piule plant is very renown for its psychoactive activity. These bean plants are attractive and so are the red and black beans they product. The plants are scattered throughout the globe but very abundant (in native growth as well being used as a hallucinogen) in Mexico. They grow in bushy patches and can overtake massive areas when unkempt.

There are paintings of these seeds, as well as folklore, dating all the way back to 300 A.D.. It is a sacred plant in Mexico. It is a well-known hallucinogen throughout Mexico and has been associated with ancient religious ceremonies.
