Hyoscyamus of the Nightshade Family

Black Henbane is an annual or biennial in some cases. It grows to be roughly 30 inches in height and the leaves feature huge teeth. The flowers are usually a green-yellow in color. Purple veins can sometimes be seen throughout the flowers. The seeds emit a strong, unpleasant odor when pressed.
In the Old World Hyoscyamus was used in a number of witches brews, potions and ointments. It has been used to reduce pain. It is also used for its strong hallucination inducing properties.
