Golden Angels Trumpet

Brugmansia Pers. (Brugmansia aurea Lagrh.)

golden angel trumpet is a hallucinogenic plant

Aka Solanaceae Nightshade

Location: South America (particularly Western regions)

This species of Nightshade is very closely related to Datura. All of the species of Golden Angels Trumpet have historical record of being used in hallucinogenic ceremonies, shamanism, or for recreational use. They are very commonly found in cool wet highlands (generally above 5,500 ft elevation), and are very common in the Andes. They are yellow, sometimes white, beautiful drooping flowers that are shaped like a trumpet.

All of the Golden Angel’s Trumpet species have been documented as being used in medicine for a variety of ailments. Most notably, it has been used to treat rheumatic pains. However, while this nightshade looks gorgeous in its golden hue and have great healing properties, it also possesses potent hallucinogenic tropane alkaloids.
