Does CBD Make Your Smarter?

Will CBD Improve Intelligence

CBD, Intelligence, and the Brain

Everywhere you turn, it seems that someone is making outrageous claims about the benefits of using CBD oil. Take Debbie Wilson for instance. It’s been over 20 years since she was struck down and then run over from a driver in a fast food restaurant. The event really messed her up affecting many neurological issues including PTSD, epilepsy, migraines and memory problems. Wilson tried medical cannabis for her pain and other issues. While the THC-rich cannabis herbs helped to ward of her seizures, she saw an even greater improvement when she took an oil which consisted of 22% CBD and just 1% of the THC.

“I know for a fact that I’m now accessing file drawers in my memory bank that were shut for more than 20 years,” says Wilson. “My story has not ended yet, I’ve been able to retire my seizure alert dog, my helmet, my diapers and over a dozen central nervous system depressants, pain relievers and antidepressants. So many areas of my body have been helped that it’s not even like I’m the same person.”

Wilson is not alone with her experience and a variety of studies are supporting her claims as well as the notion that there are many ways the CBD can help make one smarter.

A Little Bit About the Brain

It takes literally billions of neurons interconnecting with each other to make the brain work. A healthy brain will generating new neurons throughout its lifetime while an “unhealthy” brain will struggle with the process. When a brain fails to build new neurons, disorders such as dementia, epilepsy and schizophrenia can take over.

Testing CBD vs THC

While the science is far from conclusive, various tests appear to be promising in helping one become smarter in a variety of ways. In one study, mice were given food that had been supplemented with either THC-rich extract or another made from CBD. After six weeks of mice’s new diet, their memory was tested. The furry creatures that were given the THC actually went backward with impaired memory and motor function, but the other group showed improvement in those areas and those given the CBD saw an increase in neurogenesis.

Another study given to humans found similar and yet different results. This study saw the people who took CBD had better brain connectivity, but the brain’s volume shrank. And it also showed that with prolonged use of CBD, the users’ brains’ “wiring” degraded somewhat. However, unlike THC, scientists have concluded that CBD has no negative psychoactive effects to those who use it.

How CBD Can Improve One’s Smartness

Sciences seems to suggest that CBD oil can help with:

Overall Health: Light-to-moderate use of CBD can help one to “wake up” to the needs of their overall health and can help with weight loss, eating disorders, chronic pain, involuntary muscle spasms, and other medical problems.

Getting Back on the Wagon: Those struggling with addiction to alcohol or drugs may get the help they seek by using cannabis in a conscience way helping them to kick the habit.

Blowing One’s Mind: Sensory perception is said to increase with the use of CBD helping one get a different perspective during emotional events as well as their environments and might even help unlock some creative potential.

Putting It Back Together: While THC may actually be bad for the brain, CBD has been shown to improve brain cells.

Say No to Distractions: For the distracted one, taking the right dosage of CBD can help put them back on track and help a steady focus to get the job done.

Get More Z’s: Getting more sleep is always welcome and CBD is said to affect and facilitate rejuvenating sleep. The longer and better one sleeps, the better overall health one inhabits.

Become More Creative: Nothing is worse than writer’s block or a feeling of paralysis when an artist is faced with a blank page. Artists and musicians have used drugs for years as a way of find their muse, but CBD maybe a safer and saner way to relieve one inhibitions, relax and alter their senses a bit so that they can do their best creative work.

Learn to Relax: One can’t learn efficiently if one is stressed. Unlike the negative images of stoners “chillin’ out”, CBD can be useful in helping to reduce perceived threats or unsubstantiated fears.

The Bottom Line

More research still needs to be done to find the “sweet spot” of how much CBD can help and how much more can hurt. Still, everything appears to be pointing in the right direction.
