Screw Pine Pandanus Hallucinogen

Pandanus of the ScrewPine Family
pandanus

Aka Pandanaceae sp.

Location: Tropical Regions of Africa, Asia and Europe

The Screw Pine grows in tropical and warm regions and is extremely tenacious. Screw pine can be found growing along trees, buildings and mountains…and it literally climbs as it grows. Leaves can reach up to 16 feet in length and have long been harvested for mats. The plant sprouts flowers within large encapsulating shell-like heads and the fruit is edible.

The native Indians of New Guinea used the fruit of Pandanus that grows abundantly there to create a hallucinogenic effect. Pandanaceae contains dimethyltryptamine.
