About the Author
About me
My name is Nathan, but I also go by the name “Botanical Shaman.” I am a herbal/natural medicine and botany enthusiast. I have interests in how all cultures choose to use medicines, supplements, botanicals, and extracts. This includes ancient, extinct cultures, as well as those still in existence today. I am interested in shaman activity involving plants, whether psychoactive or medicinal in application. I am interested in how both first and third worlds use plants, regardless of whether the use is religious in nature or not.
My Credentials
I have read more than 4 dozen books on relevant topics, which have included several plant encyclopedias, cultural contributions, anecdotal experiences and other manuscripts. I have also studied at a number of Universities located around the United States (for various degrees, some unrelated). While I have completed degrees of relevance, I am only marginally interested in the degrees themselves. I tend to prefer learning through experience and thus have visited many of the countries, territories and cultures that I have discussed in my various articles. I am currently working on a book that outlines my travels and what I have learned.
I consider myself a scientist, a spiritualist and a student.
Some Extra Notes
If you have any questions that relate to plants or botanicals (whether psychoactive or otherwise), or any other inquiries you feel I can help you with, please feel free to use my contact form and reach out!
Please do note that I am not a licensed medical doctor (or a doctor at all). I would not consider myself a “shamanic doctor” or a “spiritual doctor” either. I am, however, the most well-versed and studied enthusiast I know on the topics I enjoy. =)
